I’ve owned the Phaser 6510 for about a month now. After working out a few initially frustrating issues, I can say without reservation that I’m very gratified by the performance of this color laser printer. At this price point, you will be hard pressed to find anything close to what the 6510 offers unless you go with a refurbished or used unit. While the price tag is ridiculously small, it is the cost of replacing toner cartridges that makes the 6510 a stellar value. Amazon offers a variety of generic replacement toner cartridge bundles starting at under $50 for a total of 5 (2 black, 1 yellow, 1 cyan and 1 magenta). These are high-yield cartridges and should last you months or even years depending on how much printing you do. Colors reproduce flawlessly and the detail in photographs and other high-res images is better than many high-end color lasers.

Very happy with this printer so far. I was tired of replacing less expensive ink jet printers every other year and having to buy expensive ink refills after small color print jobs so I decided it was time to upgrade to a color laser printer. Did a bit of research and selected the Xerox Phaser 6510/DNI. Of course it is bigger than our old ink jet (deeper and taller), but it is not massive. Set up was very easy. The DNI model has wireless printing. It did take a couple of minutes to scroll through setup options and type in the WiFi password on the limited interface, but it was not complicated. Took a few minutes to warm up on first use but no issues after that. Prints beautifully and very quickly. Some commented that this machine causes a power surge/lights to flicker. I live in a 105 year old house and did not have any problems; however, I did plug into a surge protector.

All-in-all, I’m happy with the purchase. An excellent printer. Shipping was a day late, tracking was completely fouled up and UPS delivered it tipped over on it’s side (box clearly marked to keep upright). Not typical of Amazon Prime delivery.

So far so good with my new 6510. Four stars because it still uses an 80’s technology LCD/buttons interface at the printer. You really only have to use that to configure WiFi (never if you go wired). Once connected, use your browser and the printer’s web interface. Most everything can be accomplished there.

When I set up the printer on my Mac desktop, it continually lost the connection. The printer was connected to the network, and I could print to it with my iPad, but the desktop reported it as “not connected”. When I deleted the printer and set it up again without using Xerox’s software, it worked fine.

I love the printer. I bought it to replace a 10 year old Xerox Phaser 6180DN. The 6510 prints much faster and has good color reproduction. I love the fact that I can print from my iPhone and iPad, too.

The color toner cartridges that come installed are paltry, only lasting for a few hundred pages. I was not expecting this, and ran out in the middle of a print job that I needed the next day. And the printer won’t keep printing with whatever residual toner is left in the cartridge. It just refuses to print. So, you’re going to be out several hundred more dollars for your first set of toner cartridges, if you buy Xerox. I’m going to try a many times cheaper, non-OEM set.

The reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is that it was difficult getting it connected to the network. My network router is older and doesn’t have an auto connect fearure. I had to do something different from the Xerox directions to get access to the printer’s control panel over the network. Following Xerox’s directions did not work. I finally found the default URL of the printer at an online forum.
